About us
It all started in 1982 with the adoption of our first Mustang from the BLM
corrals it Palomino Valley, NV. At that time, the adoption fee for the
horses was $200. Shortly after the adoption, the BLM decided to go back
to the $125. adoption fee. We were issued a refund of the difference but
instead of taking it in cash, we decided to drive down to Kingman, AZ
and choose a burro. We chose a pink jenny and named her "Chantilly Lady" (Tilly for
short). She soon gave birth to a sweet little jack foal that we named "Tilly’s
Tumbleweed". That was it. We were hooked for life. We lived in the
foothills of the Black Mountains that border Las Vegas, NV on the south side and
had very few neighbors and could just open our gate and have free access to the
mountains. We rode our horses constantly and our burros always went along. We
never used lead ropes on them or anything. They just always followed along. We
never trained them to do anything special or expected them to do anything. They
were strictly pets. After many, many job-related moves in between, we finally came to FL in 1993
and were able to stay. We now have the place of our dreams and a permanent home
for our donkeys. Ours is a family operation where all help in every aspect of
the farm. All our stock is family friendly and our babies are all handled by
everyone from birth. We have quite a few rescued or adopted donkeys that will be
permanent residents at our farm. Their stories are on the "Current
Residents" page on this site. We love to see what we can teach our donkeys to do next. We have
rehabilitated many abused and/or neglected donkeys and made them into friendly,
loving family additions that pull carts, do tricks or are trained to saddle. Whether you are already "hooked" on donkeys or "just
looking" we love to share our longears and thus the reason for this site.
Browse, read, and share with us. But most of all….enjoy! MAY ALL YOUR DAYS BE DONKEY DAYS FULL OF PATIENCE, AFFECTION AND UNDERSTANDING
